A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular team and that team only. Once a player signs a tender with a team, his rights belong to that team within that league only, and may not be drafted or recruited by a team within that league.
Our first installment of "Tender Tuesday" is Atlanta native, Defenseman, Cole Crawford. Cole comes from the local Midget AAA program TPH Thunder U18, where he was named captain. He registered 5 goals and 3 assists in 24 games last season for the Thunder, and brings a maturity that is uncommon to find in a athlete at such a young age.
"We are proud to have Cole be part of our organization, what makes him special is just not his on-ice play, but how he handles himself as a young man off the ice. He's a pro, his approach to his development and career will set himself up for a long time" said Head Coach and GM Anthony Bohn.
Cole has this to say this about his tender signing with the Atlanta Capitals. "I am very excited to be able to have the chance to play my junior hockey at home, with the Capitals. The city of Sandy Springs is really rallying around the team being here, and just happy to be part of the home town team."
