2024-25: Coach Bowkus enters his third season with the Capitals Hockey team.

Coach Bowkus  brings over 30 years of coaching experience having coached at all levels of hockey. Prior to Atlanta , Coach Bowkus was coaching and teaching at Williston State College in North Dakota.  He also coached Wichita Fall Wildcats of the North American Hockey League.

” I have been blessed to be able to coach some very good players that have made it to the professional hockey levels, including the NHL. I am even more blessed to have former players keep in contact with me and my family . Many of them have gone on to have successful careers and beautiful families.”

Coach Bowkus started playing hockey in Lansing, Michigan at age 7. He played AAA hockey in Detroit,  Michigan for teams such as Paddock Pools and Detroit Compuware. In Juniors, Bowkus played two years in the USHL for Sioux City Musketeers, North Iowa Huskies and Waterloo Black Hawks.

Coach Bowkus played NCAA Division III college hockey in the MIAC at Concordia College – Moorhead, MN.  Bowkus served as Captain his Junior and Senior Years.  He finished his college hockey career scoring over 120 points in four seasons with Concordia College.

Coach Bowkus received his Bachelor’s of Art degree in Business Administration from Concordia College.

Coach Bowkus and his wife Mary, will reside in the Atlanta area with their three dogs – Shrek, Fiona and Donk.  They have two daughters, Socorro Bowkus and Karri Boulier, who both live in Lansing, Michigan.

 

 

 

Dylan Borseth

2024-25: Dylan’s obsession with hockey started at a young age, but his career in coaching begins with the Atlanta Capitals in the 2024-25 season.

”To this day I am still just as eager to play, watch, and learn the game. I’ve always dreamt of working in hockey, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.  I truly have a passion for this sport and I am proud to be a part of the Atlanta Capitals organization.”

Dylan began his junior hockey career by playing for the Breezy Point NorthStars in the NA3HL for two seasons, where he was voted alternate captain and was chosen to represent the team in the Top Prospects Tournament.

Dylan went to Williston State College for his first two years of college hockey. During his 3 years at UMC, he recorded 67 points in 84 games played and was an alternate captain for all 3 years.

Now at 26 years old Dylan has graduated with a degree in Sport and Recreation Management from the University of Minnesota – Crookston.

Throughout his hockey career, Dylan has taken on many different roles.  Because of this, he is uniquely qualified to coach players on their individual roles and duties within the team.  

 

 

William Hermel

Off Ice Official


2024-25: William Hermel joined the NA3HL Atlanta Capitals for the 2020-2021 season and serves as the off-ice scorer.

Since then, Will has also filled the roles of timekeeper and penalty bench attendant, with duties that include operating the game clock and keeping track of penalty times.

Prior to joining the staff, Will worked with coaches of all age classifications and all skill levels for on-ice practices. This included creating drills, demonstrating advanced techniques, and supporting each player in their development.

Originally from Lawrenceville, Georgia, he graduated with honors from Brookwood High School. He plans to graduate from Georgia Gwinnett College with honors distinction in the spring of 2028 with a Bachelor of Education: Middle Grades Math and Science focus.

 

 

Rachel Bates

Social Media Manger


2024-25: Rachel joins the Atlanta Capitals in a full time capacity for the 2024-25 season.  Rachel brings 8 years of experience working with junior hockey teams including The Texas Tornado (2000-2002) and the Mid Cities Jr Stars (2016-2022).

“I am very excited to join the Capitals for the 2024-25 season.  The organization and the staff are beyond my expectations in their skill and leadership and absolute commitment to play our part in development of future hockey superstars.”

Rachel began her career working with The Texas Tornado as their photographer in the year 2000. She stayed with the Tornado during their final two seasons at the Blueline arena in North Richland Hills, Texas.  After the Tornado relocated she expanded her photography career by working for NASCAR, The Texas Rangers and many more professional organizations.  She left photography to begin a family in 2006, only to rejoin junior hockey in 2016 with the Jr Stars.  Over her 6 season with the Jr Stars she began as the team photographer but quickly started taking more responsibility including managing the teams online presence including the teams website and social media platforms, managing merchandise sale, game day operations, planning scheduling and attending community events with the team.  

Rachel lives in Bedford, Texas with her daughter Mckenzie, her son Leland, and her dog Toby.
