Caps Aim High In Their First NA3HL Draft
The Topeka Capitals are gearing up for the annual NA3HL Draft June 10th. Topeka will be participating in their first ever draft after a successful season in the newly established South Division. The NA3HL has added 3 more teams to the division in Tennessee, Alabama and another in Dallas.
Capitals were successful both in the standings and in the advancement department, holding true to what Topeka is all about, helping promote players to the next level. Yu Hikosaka scored 2 goals in game 5 of the south division finals for the Roadrunners in last year’s playoff run. Hikosaka moved up from the Capitals to the Roadrunners mid-season on a permanent basis. Blake Busch, who finished the season with the Capitals, signed a tender with the Roadrunners for the 2014-2015 season. Also, team leaders Tommy Malkmus, Connor Nicholas, Hardijs Kupacks, and Jude Hull all made college commitments for the fall.
It’s been a busy summer for the Capitals staff as they have been hitting the recruiting trail since the season ended in mid-March. “We are very happy with how our first season went and like the direction our program is heading, we are confident that with our tendered players and veterans coming back we will be able to continue the growth of our program.”
With the annual NA3HL Draft happening in the coming week, Head Coach Anthony Bohn is excited about the future Capitals picks. “A lot of work goes into targeting players; we are looking for high character kids who are committed to growing as players and strive to get to the next level. We have a very strong and committed staff here and we are excited to see how the draft plays out.”
The NA3HL Draft starts at 5pm central time, June 10th. You can follow all the Topeka Capitals picks on the Capitals twitter feed @capitals_topeka or on NA3HL.com.
